info:

Adam Kriney is a Brooklyn, NY based drummer/musician who runs the Colour Sounds Recordings label and is involved with all of the groups/projects on the label, all of which you can find out about here.

Since he began playing drums in 1994, he had a long history in the NJ/CT/MA punk/indie music scenes performing and releasing music with many different projects/groups (discography coming soon!).

While living in Boston in 2002, he got more involved with improvised and experimental music and began Colour Sounds to release his own recordings. In 2003, he moved to Brooklyn, NY and began playing with everyone he could grab, forming several groups and playing with dozens of amazing musicians and improvisors from the NY area.

He still resides in Brooklyn, releases from the Colour Sounds label are coming out regularly, shows in the NYC area and tours all around are happening, and he is always forming new groups to realize different musical ideas and to share in the collaborative process with as many different folks as possible.

His current musikal projects include LA OTRACINA, OWL XOUNDS EXPLODING GALAXY, & RUST IONICS

Review from The Big Takeover, issue #55, by Steve Holtje
Adam Kriney "Duo Explorations Vols. 1 & 2" 2xCD
"Drummer Kriney used to play in the Massachusetts prog-rock group THE NATIONALE BLUE, but here he's purely a free-jazz player. These two sessions were recorded just before he moved to Brooklyn; they find him teaming with acoustic bassist Brad Schirmer on the first disc and alto/tenor saxophonist John Keegan on the second for unfettered improvisations. The bass/drums disc might seem like aficionado territory, but Schirmer's melodic approach and the rapt responsiveness of the musicians captivate. Kriney's most energetic playing comes with Keegan, who hold his own amid the barrage with keening twists and turns, bold altissimo excursions, and a strong vibrant tone (think Charles Gayle). At just $5 (inlcuding postage!), there's no excuse for not checking out these young talents."
